Q: When is the 2006 CNS Annual Meeting?
 The 2006 CNS Annual Meeting begins on Saturday, October 7 and runs through Thursday, October 12.
Q: Where is the 2006 CNS Annual Meeting?
 The 2006 CNS Annual Meeting will be held at McCormick Place in Chicago, Illinois. McCormick Place is 17 miles from O’Hare International Airport in Chicago and 10 miles from Midway International Airport.
Q: When will registration and housing open?
 Online registration and housing reservations will open in early May 2006.
Q: When will the Preliminary Program be available?
 The Preliminary Program is scheduled to mail in late May 2006.
Q: How can I receive a copy of the Preliminary Program?
 All CNS Members will be sent a copy of the Preliminary Program. Others may contact the CNS to receive a copy or download a printer friendly copy at www.cns.org

Q: Who should attend the Annual Meeting?
 Neurological surgeons, neurosurgery nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, orthopedic surgeons, primary care physicians, gerontologists, radiologists, hospital administrators, oncologists, neurologists, pediatricians, physiatrists, and infectious disease specialists are welcome and encouraged to attend the 2006 CNS Annual Meeting.
Q: Do I have to be a CNS Member to attend?
 No, but CNS Members enjoy Annual Meeting discounts so we encourage you to consider membership as a good investment in your continuing neurosurgical education. For information on becoming a CNS Member, go to www.cns.org or contact the CNS at 847 240 2500.
Q: Where do I enter McCormick Place?
 During the CNS Annual Meeting, you can enter via Gate 37, Lakeside Center entrance by Arie Crown Theater.
Q: Will there be wheelchair rentals available onsite?
 Scooter and wheelchair rentals are available for a fee through ScootAround and must be reserved prior to your arrival. Please call them toll free at 1-888-441-7575 or Fax at

Q: Where is the CNS Spouse Hospitality Center located?
 The Spouse Hospitality Center is located at the Sheraton Chicago Hotel & Tours. A continental breakfast is available Monday – Wednesday from 7:00 am – 10:30 am. Admittance to the Spouse Hospitality Center is by Spouse/Guest badge only.
Q: What is the climate in Chicago?
 October in Chicago usually brings an average temperature of 52 degrees. Visitors are most comfortable with a light jacket, coat or in a suit. An all-weather coat will take the chill off cool evenings.
Q: Where is the CNS Opening Reception?
 The CNS Opening Reception is in the Ballroom at the Sheraton Chicago Hotel from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm. Each annual meeting registrant will receive one complimentary ticket to the Opening Reception. Additional tickets can be purchased for $100 each on a first-come, first-served basis.
Q: Who is the 2006 CNS Honored Guest?
 Dr. Peter M. Black is the 2006 CNS Honored Guest. He will be speaking at various sessions throughout the week.
Q: Who is the Walter E. Dandy Orator?
 David McCullough is the Walter E. Dandy Orator. He will be speaking on Monday, October 9, 10:55 am - 11:30 am in the General Scientific Session I. There will be a book signing in booth #345 on Monday, October 9 at 11:30 am in the Exhibit Hall C.
Q: Who is the CNS Special Lecturer on Creativity and Innovation?
 George Lucas is the CNS Special Lecturer on Creativity and Innovation. He will be speaking on Tuesday, October 10, 11:00 am in the General Scientific Session II.
Q: Where can I pick up or leave a message?
 The message center is located in the East Level 2 Center Lobby of the Lakeside Center at McCormick Place and is open during registration hours.
Q: When will I receive my record of CME (Continued Medical Education Credit)
 All tickets for “ticketed” events are collected during the meeting and shipped back to the CNS Headquarters. At that time, tickets are scanned and CME is recorded. All medical registrants will receive 24 Category 1 hours of CME. Additional CME is given if tickets are “handed in” for practical courses and luncheon seminars. Certificates of credit are mailed approximately six weeks after the meeting. For Luncheon Seminars and Practical Courses, 1 hour of CME is awarded for every hour of the course.

NEW PROCEDURE! CME Tracking Form
Please note our new procedures for CME. Each medical registrant will be given a tracking form in their registration packet listing all CME activities. Prior to their departure from the Annual Meeting, the form should be submitted indicating the number of hours of CME activity that was actually attended. The form may be submitted in the Registration area at McCormick Place through Wednesday or at the Sheraton Chicago Hotel on Thursday, October 12. NO CME certificates will be issued unless a CME tracking form is submitted at the Annual Meeting or faxed to CNS Headquarters to 847 240 0804.
Q: Can I get my friend/child/medical technician into the exhibit hall without registering him/her?
 No. Everyone who enters the exhibit hall must be a registrant of the meeting. There are no one-day registrations and all guests must pay the full guest fee of $115. Due to safety concerns, children under the age of 18, are not permitted in the Exhibit Hall at any time even if they are registered.
Q: Is there somewhere I can check my email while attending the meeting?
 Yes. E-mail Cafés will be available in the CNS Member Services Center in Booth #345 and throughout the Exhibit Hall. Please be sure to have your email account username, password and the mail server name.
Q: Where will future CNS Annual Meetings be held?
 Future CNS Annual Meetings will be held in the following locations:

Orlando, FL, September 20 – 25, 2008

Q: Where is the Press Room?
 Press activities will take place at McCormick Place. Please stop by the Registration area for details. Press credentials are required.
Q: Will there be shuttle services available?
 Shuttle services will be available to all official CNS hotels. A shuttle schedule will be posted at the hotels and at the Convention Center and will be printed in the Scientific Program book. Shuttle hours are as follows:

REGISTRATION & POSTER SET-UP QUESTIONS
Q: Where is CNS Registration?
 Saturday – Wednesday: The CNS Registration Area is located at the Lakeside Center of McCormick Place. Go to Gate 37 for Registration.
Thursday: The Ballroom Lobby of the Sheraton Chicago Hotel.
Q: Where can I talk to a CNS staff member regarding special issues or problems with my registration?
 In the CNS Registration Area – East Level 2 Center Lobby of McCormick Place there will be a Registration Assistance Booth.
Q: Where can I purchase additional tickets?
 In the CNS Registration Area at McCormick Place, there will be an On Site Registration Area for additional ticket purchases.
Q: If I registered in advance, where can I pick up my materials (which include badge, tickets and program book)?
 In the Advance Registration Booth of the CNS Registration Area at McCormick Place; the first letter of registrants’ last name will mark the booths.
Q: If I am not pre-registered for the meeting and want to register, where do I go?
 Proceed to the CNS Registration Area – in the Lakeside Center, East Level 2 Center Lobby of McCormick Place. Medical Registrants should go to the ON-SITE REGISTRATION booths; exhibitors should go to the EXHIBITOR REGISTRATION booth.
Q: Can I pick up my friend/colleague/relatives registration packet?
 No. Only the primary registrant can pick up packets. Spouses cannot pick up the packet, nor can friends, colleagues, or relatives.
Q: I did not receive a pre-registration packet and now the session I want is full. Can I get a ticket?
 Pre-registration packets are mailed to all members, as well as residents and non-members who have notified the CNS office of their interest in the meeting. The Member Services personnel at CNS Member Services Center (booth #345) in the Exhibit Hall can verify if your name resides in the CNS database and add it at your request if necessary.

Seats are limited in Luncheon Seminars, Practical Courses, social events and tours. Tickets for those events are sold at the Onsite Registration Counters, on a first come/first served basis. Once sold out, no additional tickets can be sold. However, there are often other interesting courses available at the requested time. Please check your program and the monitors for course selection and availability.
Q: My confirmation of registration indicates I have overpaid and have a refund due. How and when can I get my money back?
 Refund checks are mailed approximately four to six weeks after the annual meeting. However, while you’re at the meeting you may use your credit balance to purchase tickets to other events, both scientific and social.
Q: My registration badge is not correct. Can it be fixed?
 Yes, see the registration personnel at the REGISTRATION ASSISTANCE booth, located in the CNS Registration Area – in the Lakeside Center, East Level 2 Center Lobby of McCormick Place. They can fix any medical attendee's badge or their guest's badge. Proper identification will be required.
Q: Can Medical Attendees attend an Optional Evening Event?
 Optional Evening Events are available to all registered attendees and our exhibit partners.
The CNS Opening Reception is also open to all registered attendees and is included with each registration.
Q: Are children allowed to attend the CNS Annual Meeting?
 Children over the age of 12 may register as a guest at the Guest Registration fee of $115. This will allow full participation in Auxiliary Program Activities, access to the Spouse Hospitality Center, Opening Reception and General Sessions. Please note that children under the age of 18 are not allowed in the Exhibit Hall.
Q: Is there day care available onsite?
 Should you desire Babysitting services, please contact the concierge desk at your hotel.

CNS has no control over and assumes no responsibility for the care that is provided through hotels or these services. This information is provided solely to assist participants in identifying possible sources for childcare.
Where can I check on the availability of the ‘ticketed’ event (scientific or social) at the meeting?
 Monitors will be placed in the CNS Registration Area – in the Lakeside Center, East Level 2 Center Lobby of McCormick Place. These monitors scroll all “ticketed” events. The registrant can check these screens to see if tickets are available for purchase.
Q: I lost my ticket. Can I get a replacement?
 Yes. See the registration personnel at the REGISTRATION ASSISTANCE booth, located in the CNS Registration Area – in the Lakeside Center, East Level 2 Center Lobby of McCormick Place. Proper identification will be necessary to reprint any tickets.
Q: Can I get an extra program book for my associate back home?
 If there are any extra program books left on Wednesday afternoon, they will be available for your non-registered associates. Come to the registration area located in the East Level 2 Center Lobby of McCormick Place on Wednesday afternoon to receive extra program books.
Q: When and where do I go to set up my poster?
 Proceed to the POSTER REGISTRATION booth in the CNS Registration Area – in the Lakeside Center, East Level 2 Center Lobby of McCormick Place after you have registered for the meeting (proof of registration required). Digital Posters authors must check in at the Digital Poster desk to activate their Digital Poster and make it available for viewing. Posters will be on display during exhibition hours.
Q: When is the early registration cut-off date?
 Early registration ends September 7, 2006 at 5:00 p.m. CST.
Q: What is the registration cancellation policy?
 All refund requests must be received in writing by September 14, 2006.

$100 processing fee will be charged for all registration written cancellations received prior to September 14, 2006. No refunds will be issued after this date, regardless of cause.

Q: Where can I get a receipt for my registration to the CNS Annual Meeting?
 If you registered in advance using the online registration service, a confirmation was sent to you with all your registration fees listed.

If you registered onsite, at the time of your registration, the cashier gave you a receipt for your registration fees paid. It lists the registration, practical courses, luncheon seminars and other events, if any, that you signed up for.

Please stop by Onsite Registration or the Registration Assistance Counter to have additional receipt printed.
