Abstract Award Consideration

Choose from many Award Opportunities:
  • BrainLab Community Neurosurgery Award – given to a neurosurgeon practicing in a non-academic setting with the best abstract related to central nervous system tumors.


  • CNS Resident Award - presented to the outstanding abstract submitted by a resident for presentation at the CNS Annual Meeting. A 1,500-word manuscript must accompany the 300-word abstract. Your Department Chairman must certify that the resident author had a significant role in the project. Once your abstract has been submitted, on your confirmation page you will see a button that says "Submit Resident Award Summary". Click the button to submit your manuscript online. Instructions for mailing your summary are also on the confirmation page. Other award categories do not require a manuscript.


  • CSNS Resident Award (Socioeconomic) - chosen by the Communications and Education Committees of the Council of State Neurosurgical Societies.


  • CSNS Young Neurosurgeon Award (Socioeconomic) - chosen by the Communications and Education Committees of the Council of State Neurosurgical Societies. Neurosurgeons who are no more than five years out from completion of training are eligible for the award.


  • Galbraith Award (Resident Award - Section on Cerebrovascular Surgery) - given to the best resident paper addressing a topic of cerebrovascular surgery as judged by the JSCVS Committee responsible for the CNS Meeting Section Program.


  • Integra Foundation Award (Tumors) - given to the best clinical research paper focusing on benign tumors of the central nervous system.


  • Mahaley Clinical Research Award (Section on Tumors) - given to an established investigator in neuro-oncology who presents the best clinical research paper in the field.


  • Preuss Award (Resident Award . Section on Tumors) - given to the best tumor-related paper submitted by an author in residency training.


  • Ronald Tasker Award (Resident Award - Section on Pain) - given to the highest-ranked abstract dealing with a Pain topic submitted by a resident or neurosurgeon who is no more than six years out from completion of training.


  • Stereotactic and Functional Neurosurgery Resident Award - given to the best resident paper addressing a topic of sterotactic and functional neurosurgery.


  • Synthes Award for Resident Research on Brain and Craniofacial Injury - selected by the Section on Neurotrauma and Critical Care.


  • Synthes Award for Resident Research on Spinal Cord and Spinal Column Injury - selected by the Section on Neurotrauma and Critical Care.


  • Synthes Skull Base Surgery Award – given to an attending neurosurgeon, resident of fellow within the Tumor Section who submits the best abstract related to skull base surgery.


  • Tumor Young Investigator Award - given to the best tumor-related paper submitted by a principal investigator who has completed residency and is within the first six years of training.
