CNS Cushing Clinical Fellowship
Richard Benjamin Rodgers, MD
Dr. Richard Benjamin Rodgers completed his neurosurgical residency at Indiana
University, after obtaining his MD at IU as well. Dr. Rodgers plans to return there to
begin a career in academic neurosurgery with special focus on neurotrauma and
neurocritical care. He will spend his time as the CNS Cushing Fellow at the University
of Miami-Jackson Memorial Hospital participating in care of critically ill neurosurgical
patients, with special emphasis on traumatic brain and spinal cord injured patients. |

CNS Dandy Clinical Fellowship
David Hasan, MD
After completing medical school at Texas Tech University, Dr. David Hasan is currently
in residency at the University of Iowa. He will be using his fellowship time to study skull
base surgery at the University of Arkansas with Drs. Ossama Al-Mefty and Ali Krisht.
His work will also incorporate clinical research efforts in the study of the hormone
sensitivity of chordoma and chondrosarcoma. |

CNS Margot Anderson Foundation Fellowship in Brain Restoration Research
Karim Mukhida, MD
A resident at the University of Toronto, Dr. Karim Mukhida completed his Bachelors and
Medical Degrees at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia. He will pursue graduate
studies in the Neural Transplantation Laboratory under the mentorship of renowned
scientist Dr. Ivar Mendez. He will use the skills he learns in a career in functional
neurosurgery, and will establish his own laboratory-based investigations of stem cells. |

CNS Wilder Penfield Clinical Investigation Fellowship
J. Mocco, MD
Dr. J. Mocco is a graduate of the University of Miami and Columbia University College
of Physicians and Surgeons, and he is currently in residency at the Neurological Institute.
He will use his scholarship to pursue a Masters of Science in Biostatistics and Clinical
Research Methods at the Mailman School of Public Health, under the guidance of his
primary mentors, Dr. Steven Albert, and neurosurgeons Dr. E. Sander Connolly and Dr.
Stephan Mayer. He will also design and implement a randomized clinical trial regarding
the treatment of vasospasm in subarachnoid hemorrhage patients. |

CNS Synthes Fellowship in Spinal Surgery
Carlos Bagley, MD
A graduate of Duke Universitys Medical School and Undergraduate School, Dr. Carlos
Bagley will pursue a clinical spinal fellowship at Johns Hopkins under the direction of
Dr. Ziya Gokaslan. In addition to participating in an extremely busy complex spine
service, Dr. Bagley will be involved in several research projects involving spinal
metastases and spinal cord injury. |

CNS DePuy Spine Fellowship
John F. Hamilton, MD
Dr. John F. Hamilton completed his residency training at Henry Ford Hospital in
Detroit, after completing his MD and PhD at Meharry Medical College in Nashville.
Dr. Hamilton will spend a year at Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, under
the tutelage of Dr. J. Patrick Johnson. Apart from the clinical effort, he will participate
in basic research involving the study of mesenchymal stem cells as a treatment of
intervertebral disc disease. |
